Seven militants have been killed by a US missile strike in a tribal region in north-western Pakistan, intelligence officials say.

The missiles hit a vehicle in the Spin Drand area of Khyber.

More than 100 missile strikes have hit Pakistan’s border region this year, nearly all in North Waziristan.

Khyber rarely sees such attacks but is home to some militant groups. It is also the site of a key border crossing used by trucks ferrying supplies to Western troops in Afghanistan.

The US rarely acknowledges the covert CIA-run programme. Pakistan officially protests at the drone-fired missile strikes, but is believed to secretly aid them.
