Around 1,000 people were arrested in central Moscow today in an attempt to prevent ethnic clashes.

Around 1,000 people were arrested in central Moscow today in an attempt to prevent ethnic clashes.

The police move followed weekend rioting by youths which fuelled rumours that minorities were planning to retaliate.
