Woman arrested over baby's death
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of an 11-month-old baby girl, police in Wales said today.
Gwent Police described the death as a tragic “domestic incident” and said they are not looking for anyone else.
Police were called to a flat in St Davids Road, Abergavenny, south Wales, at 5.30am today.
“Officers carried out CPR on the girl, however, paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene,” a police spokesman said.
“A post-mortem is taking place.
“A 22-year-old woman from the Abergavenny area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.”
Chief Inspector Rod Grindlay said: “This is a tragic incident. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death at this time. It’s a domestic incident and there is no risk to the wider community.”
