Bomb plot: Yemeni woman pleads innocence as she and mother are held

A 22-year-old Yemeni engineering student has been detained along with her mother in connection with the alleged cargo bomb plot.

Two explosive devices were intercepted on their way to the United States on Friday. One was on a cargo plane refuelling at East Midlands airport in the UK, the other in Dubai.

Hanan Al Samawi was arrested after being traced by a receipt for the packages. Her legal team insists she is innocent.

A number of reports this morning say the bombs were designed to blow up in mid-flight.
