Gascoigne in court on drink-driving charge

Former football star Paul Gascoigne will appear before magistrates today charged with drink driving.

The 43-year-old was spotted by officers driving in the Jesmond area of Newcastle earlier this month.

He was breathalysed and charged with drink driving and will appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court.

The former Newcastle United, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton man has battled a drink problem for years.

He already faces a separate drink driving charge dating back to February which will be heard next month.
