A motel employee discovered 63-year-old Choi Yoon-hee and her 72-year-old husband last night in the room in the Seoul suburb of Goyang.

Choi was found lying on the bed and her husband was found hanging in the bathroom.

According to a note found at the scene, Choi was fighting heart and lung disease.

The note said: “I was in unbearable pain and my husband couldn’t let me go alone... so we decided to leave together.”

Choi appeared in a number of Korean TV programmes, such as 'Making The World Joyful' and 'Making Happiness'. As the 'Happiness Evangelist', she wrote some 20 books on hope and happiness.
