Mexico braced for Hurricane Karl
Hurricane Karl is closing in on the Mexican coast.
The Category Three storm is threatening to cause flash floods and mudslides, but it appears to have spared offshore oil operations from damage.
Mexico's state oil monopoly, Pemex, said it had closed down 14 wells in the Gulf as a precaution.
Forecasters are warning the storm surge could raise water levels as much as 12 to 15 feet above normal.
