UN food agency concerned about world food shortage

One of the UN's food agencies has called a special meeting on rising food prices amid concerns over shortages.

The Rome-based UN Food and Agriculture Organisation wants to avoid a repeat of the problems which led to riots in parts of the world two years ago.

It follows Russia's decision to extend its ban on wheat exports after poor crops.

Food prices worldwide are now at their highest level in two years.
