Aussie premier vows to beef up lacklustre campaign

Australian prime minister Julia Gillard said she is changing her campaign strategy after polls showed her government’s popularity fell as early voting begins for general elections.

Ms Gillard conceded that the first two weeks of her campaign consisted of mostly stage-managed events focused on avoiding gaffes, though she accused opposition leader Tony Abbott of doing the same.
