Turkish toddler survives balcony fall

A three-year-old boy survived a fall from a third-floor balcony in Turkey.

Dogan News Agency said the boy was taken to hospital after the fall in the southeastern city of Adiyaman.

The hospital said the boy is in stable condition and is expected to go home today.

The Dogan agency quoted witnesses and family members as saying a stack of plastic pipes in the ground cushioned his fall.

The boy’s mother, Tugba Altinkaya, said she ran into the apartment briefly to get water from the kitchen sink when the boy fell.

She said she was terrified when she came back and saw her son on the ground below.
