Police investigating the discovery of eight babies' remains in northern France have arrested a couple in their 40s.

Police investigating the discovery of eight babies' remains in northern France have arrested a couple in their 40s.

The newborns' remains were found at two houses in Villers-au-Tertre about 30 miles from Lille.

A man and woman, thought to be the babies' parents, have been charged with burying bodies illegally. Officers say they have not ruled out murder charges.

A neighbour said she was "horrified" by the discovery.
