Astronomers find biggest-ever star
British scientists claim to have discovered the biggest star in history.
The monster is 300 times the size of our sun and double the previously accepted limit of solar mass.
It is also 10 million times brighter than the sun.
The star, called R136a1, was found during a study of a galaxy next to our solar system.
Sheffield University research team member Richard Parker said: "Until now, we haven’t had the technology and the advances in instrumentation...to pin down the mass exactly."
