Prime Minister Julia Gillard vowed to give her predecessor Kevin Rudd a senior cabinet job if her Australian government wins elections likely to be called soon.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard vowed to give her predecessor Kevin Rudd a senior cabinet job if her Australian government wins elections likely to be called soon.

Ms Gillard successfully challenged Mr Rudd for the leadership of the ruling Labour Party in a shock coup three weeks ago.

Mr Rudd was excluded from her cabinet.

She told reporters today he would be included in her next cabinet after elections.

She declined to confirm or deny speculation that she will call an election tomorrow.
