Police hoped to take Moat alive

Northumbria Police had hoped to be able to take Raoul Moat into custody alive, without any further bloodshed.

Part of that wish came true as there were no further injuries to police or members of the public following the fatal shooting of Chris Brown and the woundings of Moat’s ex-girlfriend Sam Stobbart and Pc David Rathband last weekend.
