A plane carrying 10 people who worked as Russian spies in the US has landed at Vienna airport.

The plane carrying the 10 deported Russian agents landed in Vienna this morning from an overnight flight from New York's La Guardia airport.

It is thought the agents will be transferred to a Russian jet to take them back to Moscow. They are being exchanged by America for four Western agents, who have been held by Russia.

The spies left New York for Moscow hours after pleading guilty to conspiracy in a Manhattan court and being sentenced to time served and deported, said a law enforcement official.
