Police scour hills for gunman

A major manhunt for fugitive gunman Raoul Moat focused on the wooded hills and open moorland surrounding a pretty village today.

Armed officers shut down Rothbury, Northumberland, guarded schools with machine guns and scoured hundreds of acres of fields yesterday for the deranged gunman who has declared war on police.
