At least 600 protesters have been arrested after a second day of clashes with police outside the G20 summit in Toronto.

The five-hour stand-off in the city centre was finally ended by torrential rain.

Anti-G20 groups started demonstrating before the summit and the security bill is estimated at around a billion dollars.

Meanwhile, world leaders say they are committed to slashing their budget deficits in half by 2013.

They have agreed a package of measures to cut deficits, stimulate growth and return stability to financial markets

But they have agreed to take different paths for making cuts and creating safer banking systems.
