India: 23 killed in bus crash

An overcrowded bus has collided head-on with a truck in eastern India today, killing 23 people and injuring 15 others, police said.

Police officer Amit Jain says the bus driver apparently lost control of the vehicle along a sharp curve on a highway near Dhannarua, a village in Bihar state.

He said all of the injured have been taken to hospital. Mr Jain says some passengers were riding on the roof of the bus at the time of the crash.
