French police today banned a street party whose organisers planned to serve alcohol and pork sausage in a heavily Muslim neighbourhood of Paris.

French police today banned a street party whose organisers planned to serve alcohol and pork sausage in a heavily Muslim neighbourhood of Paris.

Police said the “sausage and booze” party, which was due to be held on Friday, was banned because it could be viewed as a provocation in the Goutte-d’Or neighbourhood of northern Paris, where Muslims have to pray on the streets on Fridays because there are not enough local mosques.
