Four US troops die as Taliban shoot down Nato helicopter

Four Nato troops were killed today when their helicopter was shot down in southern Afghanistan.

The four Nato troops killed in the shot-down helicopter were Americans.

The Taliban claimed they carried out the attack in the Sangin district of Helmand province.

Nato confirmed the helicopter was brought down by hostile fire.

The Taliban said it shot down the helicopter with two rockets.

Both US and British troops are operating in Helmand, part of the Taliban’s heartland.
