Another quake hit Chinese region

A small earthquake struck a remote Tibetan region in western China today following a tremor which led to thousands of deaths in April.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake that was found to have a magnitude of 5.2 by the US Geological Survey.

Experts said the quake hit at 1.35pm local time about 60 miles north-west of Yushi, the county in Qinghai province where tens of thousands of houses were flattened on April 14.

The official death toll from that incident was 2,698, with another 270 people still missing.

China poured millions of dollars into relief efforts and deployed thousands of workers in the region after the quake struck.
