Israeli building hampers new peace talks

Israel said today it will press forward with construction of new housing for Jews in east Jerusalem, drawing Palestinian accusations that the plans could undermine newly relaunched peace talks.

Cabinet secretary Zvi Hauser’s statement illustrated the balancing act Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces as he conducts peace talks in the coming months.
