Ash closes EU airports

Further flight disruptions were expected in European airspace today as a plume of volcanic ash snaked its way through southern France, Switzerland and northern Italy, the European air management agency in Brussels said.

In Geneva, dozens of flights to Britain, Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland and Hungary were cancelled, while Zurich airport listed flights to Washington, Dublin and Porto as cancelled.
