Nigerian President Umaru Yar’Adua, long plagued by poor health, died aged 58, his spokesman said.

Mr Yar’Adua died at 9pm (2000 GMT) yesterday at the Aso Rock presidential villa, presidential spokesman Olusegun Adeniyi said.
