Thai troops open fire during protests

Thai security forces fired bullets in the air today as they faced anti-government protesters on the outskirts of Bangkok.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured in the confrontation as troops sought to keep the Red Shirts from expanding their demonstrations along a major road connecting the capital with its northern suburbs.
