British mother charged with murdering her baby

A mother was remanded in custody today after being charged with murdering her 10-day-old baby boy in the UK today.

Katy Norris (aged 30) from Brixham, Devon, appeared before magistrates in Torquay after her son, Leo Norris, died yesterday.

Police and ambulance crews were called to an address in Brixham just after 11am following a report that the infant had stopped breathing.

The baby was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Norris did not enter a plea during today’s hearing and was remanded in custody until Friday, when she will appear before Exeter Crown Court.
