A Bosnian Muslim has given the first witness statement to Radovan Karadzic's war crimes trial.

He told the court in The Hague how his elderly father-in-law was burned alive during the brutal Serb takeover of his village.

The witness also gave other harrowing evidence of how Serbs "mopped up" the survivors of an artillery attack in 1992.

Karadzic denies charges of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
