A British soldier was killed today following a firefight in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said.

A British soldier was killed today following a firefight in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said.

The serviceman from 3rd Battalion The Rifles died after being shot during a battle with insurgents this morning near Sangin in Helmand Province.
