France to give €270m to rebuild Haiti

France is set to provide total budgetary support for Haiti.

President Nicholas Sarkozy said his country, which once controlled the island, would pay out €270m over two years to the Caribbean nation.

It is estimated that reconstruction after the January 12 quake could be as much as €10bn.
