The police commander in charge of security for the Davos World Economic Forum has killed himself on the eve of the conference.

Swiss police said Markus Reinhardt was found dead in his hotel room in the town today.

The five-day forum starts tomorrow and will attract 2,500 of the world’s business and political elite to the Swiss Alpine resort.

Mr Reinhardt, 61, was captain of Graubuenden’s cantonal police and responsible for organising Davos security.
