Sarkozy welcomes first grandchild

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has become a grandfather.

His 23-year-old son Jean’s wife Jessica gave birth to a boy in Paris. The child’s name has not been decided yet.

It is 54-year-old Mr Sarkozy’s first grandchild.

Jean is a law student and regional councillor west of Paris. He married former high-school classmate Jessica Sebaoun-Darty, an heiress of a French electronics-vending empire, in 2008.

Jean is the second of President Sarkozy’s three sons.
