Five Americans will today appear in an anti-terrorism court in eastern Pakistan, after police said they will seek life sentences against them for allegedly plotting attacks in the country.

The young Muslim men, from the Washington DC area, were captured in the eastern Pakistan city of Sargodha in early December in a case that spurred fears that Westerners are travelling to Pakistan to join militant groups.
