An 11-year-old boy was arrested in Britain in connection with several offences after a crime spree, police said today.
The Metropolitan Police said the youngster was arrested over “a number of offences”, including burglary, in the Croydon area of south London.
Officers were working with social services and the Probation Service in a bid to prevent further alleged criminal activity, the force spokesman said.
“We have arrested an 11-year-old boy in connection with a number of offences, including burglary, in the Croydon area,” he said.
“We are working closely with local partners, including social services and the Probation Service, to ensure that appropriate measures are in place to prevent further alleged criminal activity.”
He could not confirm reports in The Sun newspaper that the boy had been arrested more than 50 times over the last two years.
