Chirac investigated in 'cash for jobs' probe

Former French President Jacques Chirac he has been placed under investigation over allegations the city of Paris paid for jobs in his political party when he was mayor.

A statement from his office said he hoped the process will move forward quickly to show that "he can be faulted for nothing".
