Husband facing severed hand murder case

A man appeared in a British court today charged with murdering his estranged wife, who was found with fatal injuries and a severed hand.

Harpreet Aulakh (aged 31) of Chesterton Close, Greenford, north west London, spoke only to confirm his name and address at a hearing at Feltham Magistrates’ Court.

He is charged with murdering 28-year-old Geeta Aulakh, a mother of two, who was found with severe head injuries and her hand severed after being attacked in Greenford on November 16.

Aulakh was remanded in custody to reappear before the Old Bailey on March 1 next year.

He was one of two men arrested by Scotland Yard at the weekend in connection with the murder.

Mrs Aulakh was attacked in Braund Avenue, at its junction with Verulam Road.

She was walking to pick up her two sons, Tejdeep, eight, and Karam, 10, after leaving work at Sunrise Radio where she was a receptionist.

The second arrested man has been bailed to a west London police station on a date in mid-January.

Mrs Aulakh’s family stood outside the court after the hearing holding up pictures of her.

Uncle Jaswant Kanda (aged 48) from Southall, west London, said: “We want justice to be served.”
