British families to take action over Maclaren pushchairs

Around 15 families in Britain are set to take legal action over injuries to children which they say were caused by Maclaren pushchairs.

Last month, US authorities announced the recall of around one million McLaren buggies saying they pose a risk of fingertip amputation to young children.

The recall did not apply to Ireland or the UK.

In response to concerns this side of the Atlantic, McLaren distributed a cover kit to fit over hinges and reassured consumers that their buggies were safe to use.

A UK law firm says it has now compiled a dossier of claims against British-based Maclaren.
