French ambassador to Guinea searched
The French ambassador was stopped and his diplomatic car searched as troops loyal to Guinea’s ruling junta continued a manhunt for the renegade soldier who shot and wounded the leader of the military junta.
The search of a diplomatic car is a breach of international law, but the Guinean military has become increasingly aggressive following the assassination attempt on their leader, Capt Moussa “Dadis” Camara, who was evacuated last week for emergency treatment.
Guinea’s communications minister said he could not comment on the car search, but accused the French secret service of “being complicit in the assassination attempt” – a claim the French foreign ministry said was “absurd rumours”.
