Kercher family return home after Knox and Sollecito conviction

The family of murdered British student Meredith Kercher today returned home pledging to try and get on with their lives.

The Kerchers were greeted by a waiting crowd of press as they flew into Stansted Airport following the trial in Perugia, Italy, in which Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of the student’s murder.

Asked how the family would cope now that the court case was over, Ms Kercher’s brother John said: “I don’t know, you’ve just got to get on with your life haven’t you.”

The family looked tired and drained as they made their way through the airport terminal.

The long-running trial finally came to a climax late on Friday evening after American Knox (aged 22) and Italian Sollecito (aged 25) were found guilty of murder.

Miss Kercher’s mother, father, sister and two brothers yesterday said they were “pleased” with the court’s decision to convict the pair.

But the family tonight remained tight-lipped as they were quizzed by media about the case.
