Mother and stepfather charged after girl found hanged
The mother and step-father of an eight-year-old girl found hanged in her bedroom were today charged with child neglect, police England said.
Charlotte Avenall, who had severe learning difficulties, was discovered hanged in her bedroom in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, on the morning of September 12.
Her step-father Simon Moody (aged 32) and mother Susan Moody (aged 24), were interviewed under caution at the time of the youngster’s death.
Today, Nottinghamshire Police said they had been charged with child neglect following the girl’s death at her home in Moor Street, and released on police bail.
The couple will appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court next Friday.
