Base camp cabinet to highlight climate change threat
Nepal’s government says it will hold a Cabinet meeting on Mount Everest on December 4 to highlight the threat from global warming which is causing glaciers to melt in the Himalayas.
Nepal’s Forest and Soil Conservation Minister Deepak Bohara said Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and members of the cabinet who are physically fit for the trip will be attending the meeting at Kalapathar on the base of Mount Everest.
The area is a patch of flat land at the altitude of 17,192ft (5,250m).
