One killed and 11 injured in stabbing spree
Police say a man suspected of being mentally ill stabbed a pedestrian to death and injured 11 other people in north-eastern China before officers shot and killed him today.
A police spokeswoman said the 38-year-old was killed in the city of Harbin after tear gas failed to subdue him.
She said the man appeared to be mentally unstable and it was thought he did not know any of the 12 victims he stabbed.
She said that 11 wounded pedestrians are in stable condition at the local hospital with minor injuries.
