Vietnam has announced it will build its first two nuclear power plants, costing $11bn (€7.3bn) to meet booming demand.

The online VnExpress says construction of the first plant, with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts, will start in 2014 and is expected to be completed within six years. The plan was approved by the country's National Assembly today.
