Woman accused of faking cancer to buy breast implants

A Texas woman lied about having breast cancer to have her breasts enlarged, according to authorities in the US.

McLennan County sheriff’s investigator James Pack said in court records that 24-year-old Trista Joy Lathern shaved her head to look like a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy and spent $10,000 (€6,704) raised at a benefit on enhancing her chest.

Mr Pack said Lathern wanted breast implants to try to save her seven-month marriage.

The Waco Tribune-Herald reported that Lathern is charged with theft by deception.
