Germany to send more troops to Afghanistan

Germany will send more than 100 extra troops to Afghanistan in January, the country’s defence minister announced today.

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg said the quick-reaction force soldiers would be deployed in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz, a formerly relatively peaceful area that has seen an increase in Taliban activity in recent months.
