Key milestone for Obama healthcare reform

President Barack Obama’s plan to overhaul the US health care system passed a “critical milestone” after a key Senate panel cleared the reform bill.

The Senate Finance Committee yesterday voted 14 to nine in favour of legislation that would see health insurance extended to most of the 47 million Americans not covered at present.
