Pensioner tasered by traffic cop 'lost temper'

A 72-year-old US woman shocked with a stun gun when she dared a traffic policeman to use his Taser on her spoke about the incident today.

Kathryn Winkfein said in an interview today on US television that she lost her temper and if it happened again, “I would just not say anything, not react”.

Ms Winkfein was stopped for going 60mph in a 45-mph zone near Austin, Texas.

A patrol car camera captured what happened when Ms Winkfein got out of her vehicle and argued with the officer.

The incident is being reviewed by prosecutors. An internal investigation found no violations by the officer.

Ms Winkfein this month accepted a $40,000 (€26,950) settlement offer from Travis County. County Judge Sam Biscoe said defending a lawsuit would have cost much more.
