US climate bill 'possible'

The chairman of the US Senate’s environment committee said Congress might pass a bill aimed at slowing global warming before world talks in December on a deal to limit climate change.

Senator Barbara Boxer, the California Democrat who is co-sponsoring the bill, said she was pushing for approval of the legislation with specific targets to limit greenhouse gases.

She said approval was possible before key nations met in Copenhagen in December.
