Officials say at least 12 people have been killed in western Nepal after a landslide hit a remote mountain village.

Rajendra Prasad Ghimire, a senior district official, says the landslide, triggered by days of heavy rain, hit Mastamandu village in the western Dadeldhura district early this morning.

The area is about 480 miles (775 kilometres) west of capital Katmandu.
