Church collapse kills 24
A church dormitory collapsed during a Christian conference in eastern Nepal today, killing at least 24 people and injuring 62.
The people had gathered in the eastern town of Dharan on Monday for the week-long conference and were sleeping in a church extension made of bamboo and tin roofing when the collapse took place, police official Arjun Khadka said.
Among those killed were 17 women and four children.
The area is about 240 miles south east of the capital Katmandu.
The injured were taken to the nearby BP Koirala medical college hospital.
Christians are a minority in predominantly-Hindu Nepal.
