Final results confirmed Chancellor Angela Merkel won a second term and a majority for a new centre-right government in Germany’s parliamentary election.

The results of yesterday’s vote give Ms Merkel’s new coalition a comfortable majority. It has 332 seats in the lower house of parliament, compared with other parties’ combined 290.
